Landscape Lighting
Your MetroWest property does not end at sunset.

Your MetroWest property does not end at sunset.

The best landscape lighting is invisible during the day and transformative after dark. Angelo Santucci Inc. designs lighting systems that create atmosphere, define space, and extend the hours you spend outdoors — without a single visible fixture drawing attention to itself. One project at a time, managed personally by the owner, since 1960.

The Art of Light

Designing with Shadow and Glow

Landscape lighting is not about brightness. It is about contrast. A beautifully lit property uses pools of warm light against deep shadow to create depth, drama, and a sense of discovery. Our lighting designers think in layers: ambient wash for overall orientation, accent light to highlight architectural and botanical features, and task light for functional areas like steps, paths, and cooking zones.

Designing with Shadow and Glow
Architectural Uplighting

Architectural Uplighting

Fixtures concealed at the base of your home cast light upward across facades, columns, and chimneys. Creates dramatic vertical emphasis and makes your MetroWest home a focal point against the night sky. The signature technique for the Colonial, Georgian, and contemporary homes across our service area.

Moonlighting

Moonlighting

Fixtures mounted high in the mature tree canopies common across Dover, Sherborn, and Weston cast a soft, diffused downlight that mimics natural moonlight filtering through branches. Creates organic shadow patterns on the ground below — one of the most naturalistic lighting effects available.

Path & Step Lighting

Path & Step Lighting

Low-profile fixtures integrated into hardscape edges, risers, and garden borders provide safe navigation without harsh brightness. Brass and copper fixtures patina naturally to blend with the New England landscape. Essential safety lighting for MetroWest properties where walkways may be icy from November through March.

Our Process

From Dark Canvas to Illuminated Property

Step 01

Nighttime Consultation

We visit your MetroWest property after dark — the only way to truly understand existing light conditions, sight lines from inside the home, and the natural drama already present in your landscape. The owner walks the grounds with you using portable demonstration fixtures to show lighting effects in real time on your property.

Step 02

Lighting Design Plan

Our design team produces a detailed fixture layout showing every light position, beam angle, wattage, and wire run. We specify fixture models, finish colors, and lens options. The plan includes transformer sizing, circuit grouping, and zone control mapping. You see exactly what you are getting before any ground is disturbed.

Step 03

Installation & Wiring

Low-voltage wire is buried along landscape beds and beneath mulch with minimal disruption to your existing landscape. All connections use waterproof direct-burial connectors rated for New England's freeze-thaw conditions. Transformer placement is planned for both accessibility and concealment.

Step 04

Nighttime Aiming & Fine-Tuning

After all fixtures are installed, we return after dark for a full aiming session. Every light is adjusted for beam width, intensity, and direction. This is where the design comes alive. We spend as long as it takes to ensure every light contributes to the overall composition without hotspots, dark gaps, or glare.

Step 05

Programming & Handoff

Transformer timers are programmed, zone schedules are set, and dimmer levels are calibrated. We walk you through the control system, provide a written maintenance guide, and schedule a follow-up visit after the first season to readjust for plant growth and New England's seasonal changes — particularly the dramatic difference between summer canopy and bare winter branches.

Design Principles

The Rules We Light By

Less is always more in landscape lighting. The amateur instinct is to flood a property with light — the result is a flat, shadowless scene. Our approach begins with restraint: we identify the three to five most important features on your property and light those with precision. Everything else falls into graduated shadow that creates depth, mystery, and visual hierarchy.

The Rules We Light By

"We had landscape lighting installed by another company and were never happy with it. Santucci redesigned the entire system — same number of fixtures, completely different result. The difference between someone who installs lights and someone who designs with light is enormous."
