Hydroseeding

Large-Area Lawn Establishment Done Right

Hydroseeding is the application of a slurry containing grass seed, fertilizer, tackifier, and mulch sprayed directly onto prepared soil. It is the most cost-effective method for establishing lawns over large areas — new construction sites, subdivision common areas, commercial properties, and residential lots where traditional seeding would be prohibitively slow or prone to erosion.

Large-Area Lawn Establishment Done Right

"Our builder left us with two acres of mud. Santucci hydroseeded in May and by August we had a lawn that looked like it had been there for years. Best decision we made during the entire build."

Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding

Best for: Large areas (5,000+ sq ft), new construction, slopes and erosion-prone sites, budget-conscious projects. Germination takes 10-21 days with full establishment in 8-12 weeks. Most cost-effective for areas over one acre. Spring and early fall applications perform best in New England's climate.

Premium Sod

Premium Sod

Best for: Immediate results, smaller areas, high-visibility zones, events with tight timelines. Instant green coverage with use possible in 2-3 weeks. Higher cost per square foot but eliminates the 8-12 week establishment period. Available year-round except when ground is frozen.

Combination Approach

Combination Approach

Best for: Large properties with high-visibility areas. We often hydroseed the bulk of a property for cost efficiency while installing sod in the front yard, pool area, or other focal zones where immediate coverage matters. This balances budget with visual impact.

Sod Installation

Instant Lawn — Premium Kentucky Bluegrass

When immediate results matter, sod delivers what hydroseeding cannot: an established lawn the day of installation. We install premium Kentucky bluegrass sod grown at local New England farms, cut fresh and delivered within 24 hours of harvest. This is not commodity sod — it is a mature turf stand with established root systems that will knit into your prepared soil within two to three weeks.

The Process

From Bare Soil to Established Lawn

01
01
Step 01

Site Assessment

The owner evaluates your property to determine the appropriate method — hydroseeding, sod, or combination. We assess soil conditions, drainage patterns, slope, and sun/shade exposure to specify the right seed or sod variety.

02
02
Step 02

Soil Preparation

Rough grading establishes proper surface drainage. Construction debris is removed, soil is amended based on test results, and fine grading creates a smooth surface ready for seed or sod.

03
03
Step 03

Application / Installation

Hydroseeding is applied in a single pass with our commercial equipment. Sod is installed same-day or next-day after delivery, laid in a staggered pattern, and rolled for soil contact.

04
04
Step 04

Establishment Period

We provide detailed watering instructions and schedule follow-up visits to monitor germination (hydroseeding) or root establishment (sod). Adjustments are made as needed based on weather and turf response.

05
Step 05

First Mow & Handoff

When the lawn reaches mowing height, we perform the first cut and provide care instructions for ongoing maintenance. Your new lawn is established and ready for normal use.
